Completion of Restoration of Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery

The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) of the David Humphreys
Branch No. 1 along with Freelove Baldwin Stow Chapter of the Daughters
of the American Revolution (DAR) are jointly having a Ceremony to honor a
newly found Patriot, Daniel Jackson and the completion of the
restoration of the Cemetery of the Historical Christ Episcopal Church
Cemetery in Stratford that is located on Broad Street.

The cemetery dates back to 1723 and is the oldest Episcopal burial
ground in the state. The oldest grave is 1725. William Samuel Johnson,
1st. President of Columbia University and also one of two signers from
CT. of our United States Constitution is buried here. Also, buried here
are 19 Revolutionary War Patriots.
We are planning to conduct a Ceremony along with several other local
groups on November 10, 2018 @ 10:00 a.m. to honor the newly found
Revolutionary War Patriot.

Refreshments will be served at Christ Episcopal Church following the ceremony.
Directions: From I-95: We are located off of Exit 32, West Broad
Street exit. Proceed south-east to the end of West Broad Street where
you will intersect Main Street and come to a traffic light. You will see
St. James Church directly in front of you. You must take a left at this
light and an immediate right onto Broad Street (which is along side of
the church). Christ Episcopal Cemetery is directly in back of St. James
Church.
