Contractor Who Stole From Clients In Custody

He committed fraud against homeowners in Stratford, Fairfield, Easton, Ansonia, Redding, Derby, Ridgefield, Norwalk, New Haven and Guilford.

ACROSS CONNECTICUT — A former Connecticut contractor convicted of stealing and breaking agreements with homeowners statewide was in custody Wednesday after he was accused of failing to pay restitution, according to the Connecticut Post. Gary Girasulo, who has also used the name Gary Grenier, committed over $200,000 in fraud against property owners in Stratford, Fairfield, Easton, Ansonia, Redding, Derby, Ridgefield, Norwalk, New Haven and Guilford, the Post reports.

Court records indicate Girasulo has been convicted in cases dating as far back as 1999. He is currently charged with violating probation in seven separate cases, according to court records.

Girasulo, 57, of Wallingford, was sentenced to 12 years behind bars in 2009, but in 2016, a judge ordered his release on the condition he pay restitution, which he has not done, according to the Post, with the exception of an initial $10,000 payment.
