Crash Sends Cops To Hospital After High-Speed Chase In Stratford

Three Stratford teens have been charged in the incident.

STRATFORD, CT — Three Stratford teens recently led law enforcement on a high-speed chase, crashing into a vehicle occupied by two detectives along the way, according to police. Sherrard Lytrell Colon, Justin Montgomery and Justin Perez are charged in the incident, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, a case report from Stratford police stated.

The chase began when police pursued a 2003 Honda Civic that ran a red light at Main Street and Broadbridge Avenue, the report stated. Despite the cruiser activating its emergency lights and siren, the car refused to pull over, instead turning onto Stratford Avenue and running another traffic signal, according to the report, which noted that the speed of the police cruiser during the chase went above 80 mph.

The Honda then turned onto Bruce Avenue, hit a vehicle occupied by two on-duty police detectives, ran a stop sign, made two more turns and finally pulled over on West Avenue north of Hollister Street, according to the report.
