Residents Evacuate House Fire In Stratford: Officials

Crews extinguished a house fire Tuesday night in Stratford.

STRATFORD, CT — No injuries were reported after a house fire Tuesday night in Stratford, officials said in an update.

Crews responded to Gregory Circle around 7:55 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported fire coming from the fire at a home.

A total of 22 firefighters and two additional command staff responded to the scene.

“Upon arrival of the first due apparatus, crews quickly found the source of the fire and aggressively worked to contain the fire to the area of origin,” according to a news release from Stratford Fire Chief Jermaine B. Atkinson. “Initial reports from bystanders indicated there were residents trapped in the structure. Rescue crews entered ahead of the advancing hose lines and performed a rapid thorough search which showed all occupants self evacuated from the residence with no injuries reported. Station coverage was provided by the Bridgeport, Trumbull and Milford Fire Departments while all on duty units extinguished the fire. Stratford EMS also was on scene for support.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stratford Fire Marshals office.

“The Stratford Fire department would like to remind our residents to have working smoke detectors, regularly practice an escape plan for residential homes, and call 911 immediately upon observation of smoke or fire,” Atkinson wrote.
