Dog Dies In 2-Alarm House Fire In Stratford: Officials
The home was significantly damaged in the fire, according to officials.
STRATFORD, CT — A family dog died in a two-alarm fire Friday morning in Stratford, according to fire officials.
Crews responded around 10 a.m. to Wilbar Drive on the report of a house fire.
The Stratford Police Department arrived at the scene and tried to force entry into the home, while responding fire units reported heavy fire at the single-family home, according to officials.

“The porch and adjoining rooms of the house were fully involved in fire, and fire extended into the attic,” fire officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Upon recognition of the amount of fire present the Incident Commander struck a second alarm. Units began an aggressive interior attack with multiple hoselines deployed. Searches by firefighters found a dog in the house. Firefighters removed the dog and in partnership with Stratford EMS attempted to resuscitate, but unfortunately the dog perished.”
No other injuries were reported, according to officials.

“The fire was extinguished and extensive overhaul was needed due to the amount of damage to the house,” officials wrote. “There was also damage to the vinyl siding of an adjacent house.”
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Bridgeport and Milford fire departments sent mutual aid for station coverage while all fire units were deployed, according to officials.
The American Red Cross assisted residents after the fire.
