Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Celebrates Six Years!

In August of 2019, Stratford became an affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. This designation gave us the ability to register children in Stratford, aged birth to 5, to receive an age-appropriate, high-quality book in the mail each month from Dolly.

Brain development in children happens at an astonishing rate in the first few years of life, with over 1 million new neural connections happening per second. Reading aloud to a young child is one of the best ways to grow these connections. Children who are read aloud to at an early age enter kindergarten with much broader and deeper literacy skills, enabling them to succeed in school and beyond.

We wouldn't be able to provide the books to our Stratford children without the support of our Local Champion, the Stratford Education Foundation. This organization pays for the books and mailings for all of the children receiving books in Straford. With the support of the Mayor's office and the Stratford Public Library we have been joyfully registering children, promoting the program and seeking sponsors to support our mission.
