Best Committee's 2026 Oktoberfest on October 8 (businessdailynetwork.com) — Stratford residents can look forward to a business-focused Oktoberfest celebration at Two Roads Brewing on October 8, with food, drinks, and networking from 5 to 8 p.m. Hosted by the Stratford Chamber, Two Roads, and the Stratford Education Foundation, the event supports local education through the BEST Committee while bringing together the town's business community.
   

2. Soccer Recap: Stratford Ends Even with Bunnell (maxpreps.com) — Stratford High's Red Devils boys soccer team finally stopped their losing skid with a 1–1 draw against Bunnell on Saturday, earning their first point of the season. Now 0-4-1, Stratford looks to build momentum when they host Bethel on Tuesday at 4 p.m., giving local fans another chance to support the team at home.
   

3. District of Connecticut joins DOJ Fraud Division, SBA, and SBA OIG in surge takedown exceeding $245 million in COVID-era loan fraud offenses (irs.gov) — A Stratford resident, Kurt R. Zimmerman, has pleaded guilty in federal court to wire fraud and money laundering tied to nearly $868,000 in fraudulent COVID-era PPP loans, and faces sentencing on January 5, 2027. Federal prosecutors say he inflated income and employee counts for his Stratford-linked businesses and submitted falsified tax documents, as part of a broader national crackdown on pandemic loan fraud.
   

4. Connecticut's Sikorsky lands $234M Army deal to build Black Hawks, DeLauro says (ctpost.com) — A new $234 million U.S. Army contract for 16 Black Hawk helicopters will help sustain jobs and production at Sikorsky's Stratford headquarters and nearby facilities. Connecticut's congressional delegation says the deal supports good-paying local manufacturing work and keeps the company's extensive supplier network humming as more aircraft orders are expected in coming years.
