Fire Seriously Damages Apartment In Stratford
A family returned home to find crews battling a fire in their apartment late Sunday night.

STRATFORD, CT — A family returned home late Sunday night to find firefighters extinguishing a fire in their apartment and all of their belongings ruined, according to officials. Crews responded to a fire on the top floor of the Deerfield Woods Condominiums, located at 3699 Broadbridge Avenue, at about 10:30 p.m. The fire was found in a bedroom of the third-floor apartment that caused extensive damage throughout the unit, according to Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Brian Lampart.
“Under the command of Assistant Chief Reitmeyer, the firefighters were able to contain the fire, limit the smoke damage to one section of the third floor and maintain control at the building of 100 units,” Lampart said in a press release. “The damaged apartment is home to a mother/daughter and was not occupied at the time of the incident but the tenants did return home during extinguishment to find their belongings ruined.”
No injuries were reported as of Monday morning and cleanup crews had already been requested by the Management Company to restore all the common areas of the building, according to Lampart.
