Firefighters Respond To Blaze At Stratford House

The blaze was caused by an errant cigarette, according to the Stratford fire marshal.

STRATFORD, CT — Firefighters responded Thursday to a blaze at a Stratford home.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene about 9 a.m. after a mulch pile was lit on fire by an errant cigarette and the flames spread to the enclosed porch of a house on Jane Street, according to Stratford Fire Marshal Robert Daniel. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

“It was contained to the outside of the house,” Daniel said, adding no one was injured and the home remains inhabitable. “The residents are not displaced.”
