Former Stratford Pastor Faces New Lawsuit: Report
Robert Genevicz, who awaits sentencing for stealing nearly $400K from parishioners, was sued by the family of a victim this week.

STRATFORD, CT — As former Stratford Pastor Robert Genevicz, 69, awaits sentencing for stealing nearly $400,000 from parishioners at Stratford Baptist Church, he was hit with a new lawsuit this week, according to the Connecticut Post.
Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports the lawsuit claims Genevicz allegedly reneged on a civil settlement made with Cathy Devack, the daughter of one of his victims, in which he agreed to sell a house he owns in Maine. The lawsuit seeks to force Genevicz to sell the house and turn over the proceeds, according to Tepfer.
Genevicz faces up to 60 years in prison after pleading no contest earlier this year to two counts of first-degree larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny. There is no plea offer in the case and a sentencing date hasn’t been set, according to the Post. (To sign up for Stratford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Genevicz was accused of stealing the life savings, nearly $200,000, of retired Stratford school teacher Patricia Stosak in 2010. He was also charged with stealing $200,000 from the estate of Trumbull’s Arthur Devack. Both Stosak and Devack have since passed away.
In July 2014 Genevicz wrote a typewritten confession to Stratford police and blamed his acts on his 15-year relationship with a woman who he said led him to make bad decisions.

Also in 2014, Genevicz, who was known as “Pastor Bob” to parishioners, had his ordination removed by the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut.
