Former Stratford Pastor Pleads No Contest To Stealing Nearly $400K From Parishioners: Report

STRATFORD, CT — Former Stratford Pastor Robert Genevicz, 69, could face up to 60 years in prison after pleading no contest to charges that he stole nearly $400,000 from parishioners at Stratford Baptist Church, according to the Connecticut Post.

Daniel Tepfer of the Post reports that there is no plea offer in the case for Genevicz, who was accused of stealing the life savings, nearly $200,000, of retired Stratford school teacher Patricia Stosak in 2010. He was also charged with stealing $200,000 from the estate of Trumbull’s Arthur Devack.

Both Stosak and Devack have since passed away.

In July 2014 Genevicz wrote a typewritten confession to Stratford police and blamed his acts on his 15-year relationship with a woman who he said led him to make bad decisions.

Also in 2014, Genevicz, who was known as “Pastor Bob” to parishioners, had his ordination removed by the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut.
