On Nov. 18th, Mrs. Perriera was found innocent of all criminal charges that were filed by Stratford Animal Control. She was supposed to have her cats returned “forth with”. The geniuses in the Town Attorneys’ Office, with the approval of our newly elected Mayor, have continued this case, by now bringing a civil action against Mrs. Perreira over ownership of those cats. Does the Town really want those cats, or is this some kind of personal vendetta. Because she was found innocent of all charges and the court already stated that she would have to be found guilty for her to be liable to the Town for all the boarding fees and expenses, what exactly is the Town seeking from her. This seems more like a vendetta against this woman than any form of justice for her. The Constitution calls for a speedy trial. 2 years doesn’t seem “speedy” to me. This also seems like double jeopardy, which is also a Constitutional Protection. When the State Attorney took over this case from our Town Attorneys, this case was concluded in one day. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, “there they go again” keeping an unwinnable case going with absolutely no cause or justification. I ‘m asking anyone who feels justice is not being served should E-mail the Mayor with your feelings. You won’t get a reply, but together we can make our feelings known. It won’t take much, just a few minutes at your computer. The title should be “GIVE HER BACK HER CATS”. His “HONOR” can be reached at mayor@townofstratford.com. Do it for Marion, do it for justice, and do the right thing, you’ll feel better about yourself during this time of giving. Happy Birthday Jesus. M.H. Griffin
