Happy Valentines Day from SEMS

Stratford EMS works hard to fix broken hearts

Happy Valentine's Day from Stratford EMS!

February is also “American Heart Month". It seems fitting that we consider all the ways that we work to fix broken hearts in Stratford.

Since 2012, Stratford has been a “HEARTSafe Community”. Stratford EMS is also a HEARTSafe workplace. We take these designations very seriously and feel that it is important to ensure that all members of our community know how to save a life. There are over 50 AED’s throughout town now and SEMS checks them regularly to ensure they are in good working order.

We have assisted several community organization in the purchase of AED’s and provided associated CPR/AED training. We provide CPR for Town employees and include CPR in our youth programming. We obviously also support the school systems mandate to provide CPR to all students before graduating high school.

We train over 1000 lay people in CPR/AED each year. We offer advanced cardiac care courses like ACLS and PALS as well. All First Response vehicles now have AED’s in them and major strides have been taken to reduce response times and improve the clinical capabilities of Stratford 911 and EMS system by keeping our emergency medical dispatch technology current and adding AED Link technology to our dispatch center. We also added Stryker Lucas CPR devices to our ambulances to enhance CPR provision.

We participate in the AHA Mission LifeLine EMS recognition program which seeks to improve heart attack care through established high standards and we work closely with our local hospital to ensure those standards are being met.

We continue to pursue opportunities to provide the very best EMS service to the Town of Stratford. Stay healthy & Safe Stratford and Happy Valentines Day!
