Judge Rules on Stratford Man's Probation Request in Church Sex Case

The man is accused of sending a 13-year-old boy he met at a Bridgeport church naked photos of himself.

A Stratford man accused of sending a 13-year-old boy he met at a Bridgeport church naked photos of himself, along with sexual texts, has been denied probation, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports that Ryan Covington, 25, of Stratford, and Tavone Brown, 35, of Bridgeport, were both denied accelerated rehabilitation in which they would not have admitted their guilt but could have been placed on up to two years’ probation. The charges would have been dismissed if they completed the probation.

Brown is also accused of sending the boy naked photos of himself and sexual texts. The men met the boy during services at the Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love, according to the Post.

A third man, 31-year-old Gary Robinson of New Haven, is accused of sexually assaulting the boy in the church bathroom and is awaiting trial, according to the Post.
