Major Construction Project Set For Stratford Library
Parts of the library will be closed during the renovation period, according to officials.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Library will begin a significant renovation project on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
The construction will affect the sections of the library that house Adult and Teen services. The work is expected to continue for several months.
“When it is finished, Stratford Library will have a renovated Teen space, a reorganized Reference space, an updated public computer lab, and a brand new uCreate maker space,” officials wrote in a news release. “There will be new lighting, new ductwork, a new ceiling and new heating and cooling systems.”

During the renovation period, there will be no public access to the affected part of the library. This area includes the Adult fiction and nonfiction collections, the main computer lab, study rooms, the Conference Room, and the Board Room. Public seating will also be unavailable in these sections.
Despite the construction, the Children's Department and the uCreate makerspace will remain open for regular use. The Teen Department will be temporarily relocated to the Lovell Room. In the Library's Lobby, librarians will be available to assist patrons with computer and technology needs. A smaller computer lab will be set up in the lobby for public use, and a selection of popular books will also be accessible there.
