Man Involved In Fatal Stratford Crash Stole Watch Beforehand: PD
The man pretended to hand over $11,500 in cash to a victim in Milford, police said. He was later involved in a fatal Stratford crash.

STRATFORD, CT — A man involved in a fatal Stratford crash was charged with stealing an expensive watch from a victim in Milford prior to the incident, according to police.
The theft victim told officers that he met a man in the Milford Walmart parking lot to sell a watch for $11,500 Aug. 18. The victim exchanged the watch for an envelope that seemingly contained money, but was really full of paper, police said.
The suspect, later identified by police as Jamar Blackburn, 38, of Bridgeport, drove away. The victim got into their car and followed Blackburn onto I-95 and then into Stratford.

Blackburn was involved in a fatal crash after he exited I-95 south at exit 31, Stratford police said. Another motorist from Waterbury died about a week after the crash. Investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Blackburn was charged with second-degree larceny for the Milford incident and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. He was also charged with stealing a watch from a Darien resident in 2021, according to the Daily Voice. His court case is pending.
