Man Sentenced for Plot to Shoot Up Schools in Stratford, Danbury

The man teamed up with Natalie Carpenter, 18, in 2014 while living in a group home, to come up with a plan to copy the Columbine shootings.

Stratford, CT — A 21-year-old Torrington man was sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a plot to shoot up schools in Stratford and Danbury in 2014.

The Republican-American reports Peter Thulin teamed up with Natalie Carpenter, 18, while they were living at a group home for the mentally ill in Torrington and came up with a plan to copy the 1999 Columbine High School shootings in Colorado.

Another resident learned of their plan and notified the authorities.

Carpenter, who had told police she was bullied while at Stratford High School, pleaded guilty earlier this year and also received a seven-year sentence, according to the Republican-American.

Thulin, who has been jailed since his arrest, did not contest the charges, according to the Republican-American.
