The man faces an attempted murder charge after police say he stabbed his roommate several times in an unprovoked attack on Tuesday morning.

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man is being held on a $1 million bond and faces a charge of attempted murder after police say he stabbed his roommate several times in an unprovoked attack on Tuesday morning. David Newman, 42, of Gina Circle, was arrested after the attack at about 9:30 a.m., according to Capt. Frank Eannotti.
Eannotti said Newman stabbed his roommate several times in the arm and shoulder with a knife. It isn’t known what prompted the attack, according to Eannotti.
“The roommate was able to fend off the attack at which time Newman returned to his bedroom and waited for officers to arrive,” Eannotti said in a press release. “Newman surrendered to officers when they arrived on scene without incident.”
