New Director Appointed for Stratford Library

SZYMANSKI APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF STRATFORD LIBRARY

The Stratford Library’s Sheri Szymanski has recently been appointed its new Director. Szymanski has replaced former Director Barbara Blosveren who retired this month after nine years in the position. Szymanski had been the Assistant Director in Stratford since 2007 responsible for a variety of administrative duties including human resource management, Library budget planning, facilities management, marketing, branding, development and community outreach.

Szymanski was the Head of Access Services for the Westport Public Library for six years where she was in charge of computer systems administration and also had overall responsibility for website development and maintenance, audiovisual collection development and newspaper and periodicals collection management. Prior to Westport, Szymanski was Head of Technical and Computer Services for the Trumbull Library System. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Sacred Heart University and a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University. She is currently a member of the American Library Association, the Connecticut Library Association and the Fairfield County Library Administrators Group. Szymanski also currently serves on the Stratford Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

“We’re very fortunate to have a person of Sheri’s expertise on staff at the Stratford Library”, said Stratford Library Board President Judith Hampel. “We look forward to working with her as the Stratford Library continues to grow and provide the most current and reliable services to its patrons.” A public reception welcoming Szymanski will be held at the Stratford Library on Sunday, March 6 at 1:30 pm. All are welcome.
