Obituary: Edward W. Cink, 86; Former Stratford Resident

He retired as vice president of Tilo (Reynolds Metals Company) in Stratford and was a member of the Stratford Rotary Club and Jaycees.

Edward W. Cink, 86, of Berlin formerly of Stratford passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Masonic Health Center in Wallingford. He was the widower of Betty Helen Cable.

Born in Bridgeport on November 22, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Madeline Jaekle Cink.He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport while serving in the National Guard. Mr. Cink retired as vice president of Tilo (Reynolds Metals Company) in Stratford, and shortly after assumed the position of finance director for the City of Shelton which he held for several years.

He was a member of the Stratford Rotary Club, Stratford Jaycees and enjoyed restoring antiques. Ed was a true outdoorsman, he was an avid gardener, a member of Bristol Fish & Game and the NRA.

A loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by his three children; E. William Cink and his wife Catherine of Berlin, Melanie C. Kraus and her husband Theodore of Bristol and Leslie A. Harry and her husband Joseph of Milford. His brother Otto M. Cink and sisters in-law; Violet Cable and Dorothy (Frank) Zupsansky. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Lauren (John) Firimonte, Nicholas Hogberg, Joshua Hogberg, Rachel Harry, Joseph Harry Jr., Jacob Cink and Grace Cink as well as two loving great grandchildren; Steven and Lily and his devoted dog, Terri.

In addition to his wife Betty of 62 years he was predeceased by his brother, J. Norman Cink.

Mr. Cink's memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 6 p.m. meeting directly at the Berlin Congregational Church, 878 Worthington Ridge, Berlin, CT.
