From Pistey Funeral Home
George Fredenburgh, of Fairfield and Stratford, died peacefully at home. He leaves his loving wife, Sara Glidden, his brother Ronald Fredenburgh of Stratford, his son Dan Fredenburgh and wife Sandra of Shelton, and his daughter Diana Lubas of Stratford. He also leaves three beloved grandchildren: Emani Morris, Nicholas Lubas and Liliana Lubas. George was the son of Paul and Joan (Danko) Fredenburgh, who predeceased him.
George was Commander of American Legion Post 42 of Stratford and a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Manor, Trumbull, at the time of his death. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he married the mother of his children, Donna Wellner. His patriotism could be witnessed every year as he organized the Flag Renew- al event at Union Cemetery each Memorial Day and the Traditional Flag Retirement Ceremony on Flag Day. He loved all animals -- there are three cats who will especially miss him. He enjoyed history, music (his mother shared her love of Elvis with him) and traveling. His passion for cars led him to race them and he was very proud of his collection of old cars.

George’s thirst for driving cars and his Harley went from the ground to the air and he earned his pilot’s license. Later in life he was actively involved with the Judson House, CT Audubon and he served on the Stratford Conservation Com- mission. He originally received degrees in Mechanical Engineering but later acquired his RN certi cation from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. He was a quiet man but worldly. He will be missed.
