Obituary: Kathleen McCallum Szarmach, 79, of Stratford

Kathleen McCallum Szarmach, 79, of Stratford, widow of Joseph W. Szarmach Sr., passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital with her loving family at her side.

Born in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Edward J. McCallum Jr. and Edna Perry McCallum, she was a lifelong resident of Stratford and was a graduate of Stratford High School. Kathleen worked with her father at the Eveready Machine Company in Bridgeport and was a devoted housewife, mother and loving grandmother. She loved her beloved dog “Buttons” and enjoyed Fox News.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph W. Szarmach Jr. of Stratford, Edward Szarmach of Beacon Falls, James P. Szarmach and his wife Liz of Bridgeport and Shawn Szarmach of Stratford. She was predeceased by a son, Donald K. Szarmach. Also survived by four grandchildren, Tiffany, Claudia, Shawn and Britney Szarmach, a brother, Edward J. McCallum III of Stratford, two sisters, Elizabeth “Corky” Greene of Palm Coast, FL and Joyce Perry-McCallum of Fort Lauderdale, FL and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Stratford Baptist Church, 131 Huntington Rd. Stratford with Rev. Robert Adkins, officiating with burial following in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.

Visitation in the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main St. Stratford will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm.
