Obituary: Margaret Wachs, 102, of Stratford

Wachs was a nursery school teacher at the Sterling House for many years and was very active at the Stratford United Methodist Church.

STRATFORD, CT — Margaret Kinsman Wachs, 102, of Stratford passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Miller Allen Wachs.

Born in North Thetford, VT on September 20, 1913 she was a daughter of the late John Kinsman and Glen Cora Staples Kinsman. Mrs. Wachs graduated from the University of Vermont and was the Christian Education Director at Stratford United Methodist Church prior to her retirement. She was also a nursery school teacher at the Sterling House for many years.

A devoted Christian, Mrs. Wachs was very active at the Stratford United Methodist Church and a member of UMW and AAUW. She is survived by her 5 loving daughters; Ann Marie Wilkinson and her husband Thomas of Ansonia, Greta Jacobsen of Stratford, Martha Weintraub and her husband David of Hillsborough, NJ, Elaine Matto and her husband Ralph of Shelton and Bonnie Huey and her husband Ray of Orange. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jeffery Coe, Danny Coe, Kirsten Jacobsen, Lars Jacobsen, David Weintraub, Amy Weintraub, Ben Huey, Margaret Huey, great grandchildren; Andrew Coe, Sarah Coe, Natalie Johanesen, Miranda Johanesen, Lorelei Johanesen and great great grandchildren; Caeden and Rylee Ann Marie.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Stratford United Methodist Church with Pastor Simeon Law officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.

Friends may great the family on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615.
