Obituary: Marie M. Giles, 91, of Stratford
A former circus performer with Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, Marie became a professional dancer and always loved to dance.

Marie M. Giles, 91, of Stratford, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bishop Wicke Center. She was born in Bridgeport to the late Charles and Alice (Maune) Kolesar.
Early in life she became a circus performer, touring with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus as an aerialist. Upon leaving circus life she became a professional dancer with Arthur Murray Dance Studio and competed successfully as a ballroom dancer. She would retain her love of dance throughout her life.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, the Reverend Dr. C. Scot Giles and his wife, the Reverend Dr. Lindsay Bates, of Illinois, along with many friends and family relations.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial gathering for Marie on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 10 am to 11:30 am, followed by a prayer service officiated by the Rev. Dr. Giles at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton, Connecticut.
