Obituary: ​Robert R. Vitale, 84, of Stratford

Robert R. Vitale, age 84, of Stratford, the beloved husband of Frances Palleari Vitale, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on February 27, 1935 to the late Carl Vitale Sr. and Carmella Montefiore Vitale and has been a lifelong area resident. Bob, a veteran of the US Marine Corp during the Korean War, was a retired cost price analyst at Sikorsky Aircraft. He was a member of the Sikorsky quarter century club, the Sikorsky pistol club, the VFW Post 9460, founder and member the Marine Corp League Housatonic Detachment # 1129, a former member of the Stratford Jaycees and a former Stratford Councilman in the 4th District from 1969-1979. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, include his devoted daughters, Theresa Maraglino and her partner Peter Sulzicki of Stratford, Victoria Hockenberry and her husband Dean of Cumberland, ME and Laura Grover and her husband Kevin of Stratford, his loving grandchildren, Toni Pert and her husband Josh, Tom Maraglino and his wife Casey, Kristen Gode and her husband Vinay, Derek Hockenberry, Amber Grover and her fiancé Steven Kennedy, and Bridget Grover, his cherished great-grandchildren, Gemma and Jay Gode, a brother, Carl Vitale Jr. of Ansonia, a sister, Diane Vitale of New Haven, several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a sister, Marie Dibble. The family would like to thank the staff in the MICU at Bridgeport Hospital for their kind and loving support during his time there. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 10:30 am in the Adzima Funeral Home, and at 11:30 in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
