Robert Wright, 61, of Stratford, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Taylor) Wright.
Robert was born in Stamford Hospital to Thelma (Sistruck) Wright and his late father, Mr. Joseph Wright, Sr. Robert graduated Stratford High School where he ran cross country, played football and basketball, earned his varsity letter, and was elected class president. After high school, Robert worked as a patient escort while he attended Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport. He then became a respiratory therapist in Bridgeport Hospital.

He then left CT and attended Cheyney University of Pennsylvania where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He moved back to Stratford where he began his accounting career and where he would reside for his lifetime. After his time as an accountant, Robert started on his new path of being a teacher for Bridgeport Public Schools. Mr. Wright, as his students called him, was known for being compassionate and supportive of his students in Math, Finance, Music, and the afterschool program. He was able to touch the lives of many students and staff that crossed his path.
Robert was a faithful member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 35 years. We share scripture that was important to him to inspire faith: Revelation 21:4, KJV: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" and Titus 1:2, KJV: "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"

Robert loved to help people by generously sharing with those in need wherever he went, even in everyday places like coffee shops. He was also known as a teddy bear, a gentle giant, and a kind soul because he was just so loving and loveable. He was a lover of good music (played bass guitar). Family meant so much to him and he loved his family dearly. He laughed and smiled as much as possible and he was a master of spaghetti sauce, apple pie, and ambrosia salad, and he loved pineapple upside down cake. He will truly be loved and missed by many friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, and his mother, Thelma, Robert is survived by his daughter, Natasha Yvonne Wright, of Bridgeport; his son, Mark Taylor, of Bridgeport; his granddaughters, Harper Wright, Zoey Taylor, and Nijayla Taylor; his siblings, Joseph Wright, Jr. of Bridgeport, David Wright of Stratford, Vivian Wade of AZ, Deborah Rogers and her husband, Timothy, of SC, and Patricia Rose Wright, of Stratford; his nieces and nephews, Rita Smith, Rinelle Smith, Tai Wright, Keisha Roseboro, Kristie Rogers, and T.J. Rogers; and many cousins. Robert was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Buelah Sistruck. Their special relationship was strong, and Robert graciously cared for her as her respiratory therapist.
Due to the public health crisis, all services will be private. Those who so desire may make contributions directly to the family to Patricia Wright, 1421 South Ave, Stratford, CT 06615
