Obituary: Rosemary (Rose) Ann Woods, 73, of Stratford

Rose, a member of the Milford Rider's Club, enjoyed flagging the races, gardening, cooking, racing, bowling, fishing, clamming and boating.

Rosemary (Rose) Ann Woods, 73, of Stratford, a very loving mother, sister, companion, aunt, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully Friday, April 7, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She will be greatly missed. She was born in Greenwich, the daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria Samelwich.

Survivors include her long-time life partner, Roger Daskam of Stratford; daughter, Susan Szabocsan and her husband Robert of NC; son, Christopher Woods and his partner, Karen Scinto of Trumbull; a brother, David Samelwich and his wife Janet of Milford, three nieces, a great-niece, four nephews, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rosemary was predeceased by her son, Michael Woods and two brothers, James (Jimmy) Samelwich and Robert Samelwich. Rosemary worked as a bookkeeper at Grand Prix Services in Stamford. She was a longtime parishioner of St. James Church in Stratford.

Rose was a member of the Milford Rider’s Club. She enjoyed flagging the races, flower gardening, cooking, racing, bowling, fishing, clamming and boating. Rose was a longtime diehard fan of the NY Yankees and UConn Huskies.
