Obituary: Stanley McFadden, 88, of Stratford

He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran, serving overseas during the Korean War as a tank operator and received two Bronze Service Stars.

Stanley McFadden, 88, of Stratford, the beloved widower of Dorothy Kissel McFadden passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in his home. Born in Gardner, Maine on March 4, 1929 to the late Robert and Ruth (Mason) McFadden, Stanley has been a longtime area resident.

He was a decorated Veteran of the US Army serving overseas during the Korean War from 1952-1953 as a tank operator, and received 2 Bronze Service Stars. He was a retired foreman for ACME United with over 30 years of service and was a member of the ACME United ¼ Century Club and the Raymond T. Goldbach VFW Post 9460 in Stratford.

Stanley loved woodworking, restoring homes and gardening, especially vegetables. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Ruth McFadden and her fiancé Henry Kaminski of Shelton, a brother-in-law Bill Guillmette of Maine, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Stanley was predeceased by his twin sister, Anne Guillmette and brothers, Vincent, Carl and Earl McFadden.
