STRATFORD, CT — (From Pistey Funeral Home): Theodore “Ted” Francis Hainsworth, 56, of Fairfield, went home to the Lord peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his residence after a long, brave fight of five years with glioblastoma.

Ted was born in Bridgeport to Charlotte Pelton Hainsworth and the late Robert Hainsworth on April 8, 1964, as the youngest of four boys. He lived in Monroe until moving to Lordship at the age of 8 where he enjoyed growing up by the beach.

After attending Stratford High School, Ted graduated from Sacred Heart University where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. Whilst in school, he met the love of his life, Sophia Halkias Hainsworth, and they were married in 1992.

Ted worked as an accountant for several years before becoming a licensed self-employed Home Inspector. In 2009, he began working for the Town of Stratford Police Department as the Financial Assistant to the Police Chief until retiring after 10 years due to his illness. He also served as the local 136 Union President.

Ted’s greatest joys were his children, Kalista and Peter. He loved playing badminton, tennis, and wiffleball with them, along with swimming in the pool and nearby lake, and ending the day with a backyard bonfire.

Ted was a jack of all trades, could innovatively fix anything, and completed many home renovations. As an avid music lover, he found delight in playing the piano as a self-taught musician, and enjoyed listening to classical, opera, and rock music. In his free-time, he liked watching Yankee games, and his love for baseball continued through coaching Peter’s little league team. Along with his great sense of humor, Ted had a strong interest in history, was a great cook, and had an overall love for life.

In addition to his wife, Sophia, he is survived by his loving children, Kalista and Peter Hainsworth; his mother, Charlotte Hainsworth of Florida; three brothers, Robert Hainsworth Jr., Barton Hainsworth and his wife, Carol, and Christian Hainsworth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Pauline Halkias; brother-in-law, Dean Halkias; sister-in-law, Gina Halkias Seugling and her husband, William Seugling; as well as nephews and niece: Daniel, Nathaniel, Austin, Preston, Colton, and Emerson.

Ted faced his illness with faith, perseverance, hope, and a constant positive attitude. The family would like to thank Dr. Nicholas Blondin for his exceptional care and Constellation Hospice, specifically Ann Nance and Diandria Frazer-Jackson for their compassionate care.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave., Bridgeport followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Rev.
