Obituary: Therese Emily Amato, 88; Stratford High School Graduate

She was accomplished in the arts and theater and was an opera singer who performed in numerous Broadway Productions.

Therese Emily Amato, 88, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Milford Hospital. She was the widow of Anthony Amato.

Born in Bridgeport on March 8, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Edmund W. Repke and Therese Karcsmaros Repke. Mrs. Amato graduated from Stratford High School and attended the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She was accomplished in the arts and theater, she was an opera singer having performed in numerous Broadway Productions.

She and her husband Anthony also owned a restaurant for many years in Manhattan before their retirement to South Carolina.

Therese is survived by her next of kin, sisters; Evelyn A. Smith of Milford and Gloria E. Andresakis of Orange. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Valerie Smith Annicelli, Andrea Andresakis, Jay Smith and Tony Andresakis Jr. In addition to her beloved husband Anthony she was predeceased by her brother Edmund Repke.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford with Rev. Terry Mohr officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 10 AM to 12 PM at the funeral home.
