William Ernest Jones, age 83, of Stratford, entered into rest on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa (Golias) Jones. William was born in Bridgeport on December 3, 1937, son of the late Clifford Earl and Gertrude E. (Cronk) Jones, and lived in Stratford most of his life.
He served in the Army Reserve and worked for 30 years for the State Highways Department before retirement. Previously he also worked as a bus driver for CR & L. He was a member of the American Legion Post 176 in Monroe. William had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He also loved birds and animals.
He is the beloved brother Richard Jones, Martha Vizzo, and Sylvia Jones, and also leaves several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. On Saturday, his funeral service will be at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Family and friends are required to wear masks. Burial will follow at Lawn Cemetery East.
