STRATFORD, CT — A Bridgeport man was killed after being hit by a car Wednesday morning while running across Interstate 95 in Stratford, according to state police. The crash, which occurred about 6:30 a.m. near Exit 32, completely shut down the southbound roadway for hours and backed up traffic for almost 8 miles during the morning rush, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The collision occurred when Levern Hall crossed the median from the northbound to the southbound side of the interstate on foot and tried to run across the road, traversing the left and center lanes before being hit by a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier in the right lane, according to a report from state police. Hall, 60, of the 300 block of Bunnell Street in Bridgeport, was pronounced dead on the scene, the report said.

The driver of the Cavalier, a 57-year-old Stratford woman, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital to be evaluated, according to the report.
