Report: Stratford Town Council to Make 'Significant' Changes to Approved Budget

The council unanimously voted to revisit the 2015-16 budget after the sale of the town's sewer plant was put on hold.

In the wake of a temporary injunction that puts the sale of the town’s sewer plant to the Greater New Haven Water Pollution Control Authority on hold, the Town Council will need to make significant changes to the 2015-16 budget, according to the Stratford Star.

Melvin Mason of the Star reports that the council unanimously voted to send the $207.5 million budget it approved last month back to the Ordinance Committee for discussion at an upcoming public hearing. The tax rate of 36.98 mills will also be reviewed, according to Mason.

Petitioners from the group WPCA Stratford Get Answers won a temporary injunction in Bridgeport Superior Court last week to stop the sale from being finalized and the town is planning on appealing that ruling, according to the Star.
