UPDATE: One Person Dead in Route 8 Crash in Trumbull

State police say one vehicle crossed over the center median in the two-car crash.

UPDATE: One person died in the multi-car crash on Route 8 in Trumbull, according to state police spokesperson Trooper Kelly Grant.

Grant said one vehicle crossed over the center median in the two-car crash. There was one fatality, while two other people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, according to Grant.

The accident scene has been cleared, according to DOT officials.

UPDATE: There were life-threatening injuries in the crash and the left and center lanes are closed, according to state police spokesperson Trooper Kelly Grant.

DOT officials also report that Route 8 southbound is now closed between Exits 8 and 7, and the estimated duration is two hours or less. The report was as of 1:24 p.m. (UPDATE 2 p.m.: one lane is now open on the southbound side).
