The district reported several confirmed cases of the coronavirus at two elementary schools in Stratford on Wednesday.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Public School District reported several confirmed cases of the coronavirus at two elementary schools on Wednesday.
One person at Lordship Elementary School tested positive for the virus, while there were three confirmed cases at Johnson House Elementary, according to officials.
“The affected persons have been instructed to remain home in self-isolation for 10 calendar days and have been provided with additional instructions to follow prior to returning to school and work,” officials wrote in a message to the school community. “Family members have also been instructed to self-quarantine (this is 14 days from exposure) and get tested.”

There were no close contacts identified at either school, according to officials.
Superintendent Janet Robinson announced last week that all schools would switch to online-only learning through Dec. 4, citing rising virus numbers in Stratford and across the state.

The district is planning on Dec. 7 as the date to return to school on either the hybrid model with grades K through 1 “in-person” four days a week or as a distance learner.
“Of course, the numbers will be evaluated and we will know more as we get closer to that date,” officials wrote in the message on Wednesday night.
