Sewer Use Rates Increase In Stratford

The annual rate for sewer use bills has increased for the first time in seven years.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford residents and business owners will see an increase on their annual sewer use bills for the first time in seven years, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports the Water Pollution Control Authority unanimously approved increasing the annual household and commercial sewer rates for the 2022-23 fiscal year that began this month. The rates for homeowners increased by 22 percent (an $88 increase to $484 per year), while the rate for commercial properties increased from $4.62 per unit to $5.81, according to the Post.

Officials attributed the increase due to inflation costs, bond payments for pump station upgrades and other infrastructure improvements, the Post reported.
