“Each season, Hudson Shakespeare likes putting fresh spins on popular titles,” explains director Jon Ciccarelli. “Love’s Labour’s Lost on its own is a fun romantic comedy and a feast of Shakespearean poetry, but we wanted to see how else to delve into what is essentially men and women trying to outwit each other in the game of seduction. So we decided to take the commonly known Shakespeare practice of men playing all of the roles and expand it to having women take on male characters!”

Following Love’s Labour’s Lost this summer at the Library will be the “lost” Shakespeare play, The Murder of Thomas Arden of Faversham on July 25 and the Bard’s classic tragedy, Hamlet on August 22. In the event of inclement weather or extreme heat, the play will move inside to the air-conditioned Lovell Room.
