Sides Close to Deal on Shakespeare Theatre: Report

A deal may be close between the group hoping to renovate the American Festival Shakespeare Theatre and build an inn on the property and the town, according to the Stratford Star.

The attorney representing the Stratford Stage Group LLC told Melvin Mason of the Stratford Star that he has finalized discussions on all outstanding issues with the town and is ready to sign a deal to let the group start renovating the theater.

The proposed lease agreement is a 10-year deal with four one-year options and would allow the group to bring an inn on the property, according to the Star.

The outgoing Town Council is expected to vote on the theater contract at a special meeting on Dec. 7, according to the Star.
