Sikorsky Gets $470 Million Presidential Helicopter Contract
The helicopters from Stratford-based Sikorsky will provide transportation for the president and vice president.
STRATFORD, CT — Stratford-based Sikorsky has been awarded a nearly half-billion-dollar contract to construct six presidential helicopters, officials announced earlier this week.
The more than $470 million award for the VH-92A helicopters was granted by the U.S. Navy and is part of a 23-aircraft program for the U.S. Marine Corps, according to a news release from Sikorsky. The helicopters will provide transportation for the president and vice president.
The award "demonstrates the confidence the U.S. Marine Corps has in Sikorsky's proven ability to deliver and support the next generation Presidential helicopter," Sikorsky VH-92A program director Dave Banquer said in the news release.
