Stratford Coronavirus Update: 4 Dead, 124 Cases In Town
The new coronavirus hit Stratford hard Tuesday, with three newly reported deaths and a significant increase in confirmed cases.
STRATFORD, CT — More than 100 Stratford residents were confirmed to have contracted the new coronavirus as of Tuesday, according to an email from the mayor's office. Of those 124 patients, four had died.
The new numbers mark a drastic increase in confirmed cases and virus-associated deaths compared to Monday, when Stratford reported a 74-case total. Prior to Tuesday, only one virus patient had died, a person in their 60s whose death was reported Saturday by the town.
"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of those lost in our community," Mayor Laura Hoydick said in the email.

The email did not provide additional information about the recently deceased patients.
The new coronavirus has been spreading rapidly in recent weeks and is expected to peak later in the month in Fairfield County.

As of Tuesday, there were 7,781 confirmed cases of the virus across Connecticut, 4,136 of which were in Fairfield County and 277 of which were fatal, according to state data.
