Stratford Coronavirus Update: 5 More Deaths In Town
Virus-associated deaths increased Tuesday in Stratford, but virus hospitalizations dropped for the sixth consecutive day across the state.
STRATFORD, CT — An additional five deaths associated with the new coronavirus were reported Tuesday by the mayor's office, bringing the total number of Stratford residents who have died after contracting the virus to 36.
"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of those lost in our community," Mayor Laura Hoydick said in an email to residents.
The number of deaths spiked Tuesday after remaining flat Monday. There were 520 confirmed cases of the virus in town as of Tuesday, according to the email, a day-over-day increase of six cases.

In Tuesday's email, Hoydick noted that hospitalizations from the virus are on the decline statewide. Connecticut saw its sixth consecutive day of decreasing virus hospitalizations Tuesday, at which time a total of 26,312 cases had been confirmed across the state and 2,089 Connecticut residents had died after getting the virus, according to state data.
