Stratford Coronavirus Update: 5th Death Reported

As of Wednesday, there were 126 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Stratford, according to the mayor's office.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford officials reported Wednesday the fifth death of a resident who had been diagnosed with the new coronavirus.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of those lost in our community," Mayor Laura Hoydick said in an email to residents.

The town reported the first death associated with the virus Saturday. The latest death was reported Wednesday in an email from the mayor's office, which did not provide additional information about person.

As of Wednesday, there were 126 confirmed cases of the virus in town, according to the email, an increase of only two cases day-over-day.

Across Connecticut, there were 8,781 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus as of Wednesday, 335 of which resulted in the death of a patient and 4,417 of which were in Fairfield County, according to state data.
