Stratford Library To Screen 'Bohemian Rhapsody'
The library will show the film as part of its 'Monday Matinees' series.
STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Library’s popular “Monday Matinees” series will continue with a screening of the recent Academy Award-winning drama, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” at noon July 8 at the library, 2203 Main St., according to a library news release. The series, which presents recent, popular films twice monthly on Monday afternoons, is free and open to the public.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury's lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. “Bohemian Rhapsody” received several Oscar nominations last year, including Best Picture, with star Rami Malek winning as Best Actor for his performance as Mercury. It is rated PG-13 and runs 134 minutes.
Movies in the “Monday Matinees” series are shown uncut on widescreen in the Stratford Library’s Lovell Room. Oscar winner “The Favourite” will be shown next on July 22 and the complete 2019 summer film schedule is currently available at the library.
