Stratford Man Charged With Distributing Controlled Substances: Feds
A man faces a federal charge in connection with the distribution of controlled substances in Stratford and Bridgeport, officials said.
STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man faces a federal charge in connection with the distribution of controlled substances in the area, according to officials.
Edward Johnson, 31, has been by indictment with unlawfully distributing methamphetamine and oxycodone, according to a joint announcement from U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Vanessa Roberts Avery, Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England, and Stratford Police Department Chief Joseph McNeil.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in April 2022, the Stratford Police Department’s Narcotics, Vice and Intelligence Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration began investigating Johnson and others for distributing controlled substances in the Stratford and Bridgeport area.

Johnson was arrested on state charges on August 2, 2022.
“On that date, investigators conducted a court authorized search of Johnson’s residence on Thompson Street in Stratford and seized approximately 967 grams of methamphetamine in both pill form and powder form, approximately 13 grams of oxycodone pills; other prescription pills, more than six pounds of marijuana, and $32,151 in cash,” officials wrote in a news release.

A grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment on June 20 charging Johnson with one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and a quantity of oxycodone, an offense that carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years and maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years, according to officials.
Johnson, who has been detained since his arrest, pleaded not guilty Thursday in New Haven federal court, officials said.
