Stratford Man To Serve 9 Months For Sexual Assault Of 14-Year-Old

He met the girl at church.

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man will serve nine months behind bars for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old in Milford, according to the Connecticut Post. Manuel Mendez pleaded guilty Friday to assaulting the girl in October, the Post reports. Mendez, 24, previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the same girl in Bridgeport.

Mendez met the girl at church and developed a relationship with her, according to the Post. He will serve nine months as part of a plea deal suspending an eight-year prison sentence, the Post reports, and the nine-month sentence will be served at the same time as his sentence in the Bridgeport case. Mendez will also be required to register as a sex offender and will be banned from contacting the girl.
