STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man, who was shot by police after approaching them with a hammer while officers were executing a search warrant last year, was sentenced to one year in jail followed by three years’ probation, according to the Connecticut Post.
William Rucker, 42, was arrested on Sept. 11, 2015 while police were executing a search warrant on a Yarwood Street home as part of a lengthy investigation into narcotics sales in Stratford, police said at the time.
During the service of the warrant Rucker allegedly “attacked officers with a hammer” and was shot in the left hand and immediately dropped his weapon and surrendered to officers, police said in a press release at the time.
