Stratford, Milford Businesses Want DOT Hearing About Exit 33 Remake
A meeting to air concerns will be held Tuesday in Milford. Stratford Mayor, business leaders to voice support of project in Stratford.

Business owners bordering the Exit 33 area of Interstate 95 will hold a meeting Tuesday to Milford officials to request a public hearing with the Department of Transportation.

The Devon Merchants Association and Revitalization Committee and the Stratford Action for the Environment scheduled the session to discuss concerns about the state’s plan to redesign Exit 33 in Milford and Stratford.
The meeting will be held at the Village Marina, 40 Bridgeport Ave. in Milford at 6 p.m. The public is invited.

- The 50 percent reduction in local traffic in the area of Route 1 will result in a significant number of businesses closing.
- There is a high probability that construction will disrupt and cause ground water contamination in local neighborhoods.
- The project, originally estimated to cost $11 million, is now expected to cost more than $25 million.
“I have been in touch with the Mayor and state offices, we will be happy to coordinate a public hearing on the proposed Exit 33 in Stratford. I am anxious to read the results of the economic study that the Mayor requested for the Devon area businesses,” said Kim Rose, a Milford state representative.
The groups plan to ask Milford Mayor Benjamin Blake to request a public hearing with the DOT.
