Stratford Partnership Celebrates Award Recipients

Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families recognizes MONEY grants, MEDALS and Asset Champion Award Recipients at Annual Town Hall Meeting

STRATFORD PARTNERSHIP ANNUAL TOWN HALL MEETING

Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families held their annual Town Hall Meeting and MEDALS Awards on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Town Hall Council Chambers.

The Youth Committee presented the 2016 M.O.N.E.Y (Mobilizing Our Neighbors and Engaging Youth) grants to 6 youth groups with a contribution of $250 in support of their community service projects. Recipients included:

· Kick Start Soccer Camp~ Sterling House Community Center

· Prescription Drug PSA~ STROBE—Sterling House Community Center

· Warm Wishes—Chapel Street Elementary School

· Varied Voices—Stratford Library Association

· Unlearn—Bunnell High School

· Teen Volunteers—Stratford Recreation Department

In addition, other funded projects through the Stratford Partnership included:

· Stratford High and Bunnell High School Post Proms

· Alcohol and Tobacco Compliance Checks by Stratford Police Department

· In the Spotlight by The Mighty Quinn Foundation

· Help the Children Foundation

· Healthy Kids Day by the Stratford YMCA

The Stratford Partnership recognized local individuals, groups and businesses for their positive impact on the quality of life in Stratford and those who demonstrate leadership. The 2016 MEDALS (Making Extraordinary Difference And Leading Stratford) Award recipients included:

· Councilman David Harden

· Health Haven—Wooster Middle School-Based Health Center

· Patricia Hines

· The Mighty Quinn Foundation

· Mutual Security Credit Union

· Stratford Recreation Department Teen Volunteers

· South End Community Food Pantry

· Jeremy Thompson

· Kate Venison

Stratford Partnership Co-Chair Sean Kennedy recognized senior youth members, Winnie Etienne, Olivia Mastroluca and Darrin Bosco for their leadership and service to the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families.

Lastly, the Stratford Partnership awarded the Dr. Dudley W. Orr Asset Champion Award to Bunnell High School senior, Darrin Bosco, for demonstrating resilience and positive attitude and resident Denise Keegan, for actively working to promote developmental assets in Stratford youth.
