Stratford Recognizes Overdose Awareness Day, Events Schedule
The town will host a week-long calendar of events with the goal of raising awareness, and helping to end the stigma of addiction & overdose.

STRATFORD, CT — On Thursday morning, Mayor Laura R. Hoydick recognized International Overdose Awareness Day 2024 with a proclamation, commencing the town's week-long calendar of events for the Stratford community, leading up to IOAD 2024 on Aug. 31.
The events, beginning Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, are a curated collaboration between Hoydick's office, Community Services (specifically Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families), and the town's community partners.

Every day there is a hosted event for residents of Stratford to participate, with the goal of raising awareness, providing resources, and bringing the community together to help end the stigma of the battle of addiction and overdose.
Hoydick said, “This effort by the Town of Stratford highlights the importance of the IOAD 2024 theme, ‘TOGETHER WE CAN,’ and I welcome the entire Town to join us next week and throughout the year as we work towards better understanding, support, and connection to help those in our community facing the afflictions of addiction and overdose. As the theme denotes, the power of our community is greatest when we all stand together."
