Stratford Residents to Decide Sewer Plant Sale
Town Council sets date for referendum vote.

The controversial sale of the town’s sewer plant will go to a referendum vote and Stratford residents will decide the issue on Election Day (Nov. 3).
The Stratford Star reports the Town Council unanimously approved the referendum vote after council members rejected resolutions to reconsider the sale of the sewer plant to the Greater New Haven Water Pollution Control Authority and to reconsider the ordinance that makes Stratford a member of the GNHWPCA.
Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins recently announced the town was withdrawing its appeal of a Superior Court ruling regarding the plan to regionalize its sewer operations, which cleared the way for a referendum vote.
